An Avatar’s Life is my blog and a portfolio of sorts. I am a father, a journalist and a gamer, and while the order may change, they always overlap. This blog is my way of keeping up with the games industry as well as keeping up with my writing.
For those that don’t know me, I was Editorial Director of GameSpy for more than seven years, from January 2000 to September 2007. From there, I became editor-in-chief of the progressive games site, Crispy Gamer, in October 2007 until the site as it was then was halted in October 2009.
Since then, I have freelanced for such sites as GamePolitics, GameCulture, ZAM, the reborn EGM magazine and its electronic sister site EGM(i). I have also written fiction for Trion Worlds MMO Rift.
I am a PC gamer at heart, but follow all consoles and play my DS and PSP when I find interesting games. I used to play Wii, 360 and PS3 until my wife got rid of the consoles. My genre preferences ar Strategy and RPG, with the occasional FPS mixed in. My favorite games have been World of Warcraft, Rift, Civilization IV, the Baldur’s Gate series, the Fallout series and pretty much any game from Blizzard and BioWare.
I am the proud father of two teens and I enjoy playing games with them when time permits.
Enjoy the site.
